Guidelines for Supervised Visitations in Oklahoma

  1. Use of Talking Parents App
  • Parents are encouraged to use the Talking Parents app for time-stamped communication that cannot be deleted.
  • Both free and paid versions are available.
  • If required by the court, the app stores records of communication, ensuring phone number confidentiality.
  1. Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

     Custodial Parent

  • Must drop off the child/ren 10 minutes before the visit starts and return promptly 10 minutes after it ends unless otherwise instructed.
  • Must leave the area immediately after drop-off.

    Visiting Parent

  • Must arrive on time and leave promptly at the end of the visit.
  • Visits may be terminated due to non-compliance or child distress, at which point the visiting parent must leave.
  1. Cancellation/No-Show Policy
  • Notify the monitor and the other parent if unable to attend the visit.
  • Medical cancellations: Require a doctor's note submitted within 24 hours.
  • Late cancellations (48 hrs): Full fee must be paid; future visits will not be scheduled until fees are settled.
  • Weekend cancellations: Must be made by Thursday at 5:00 pm.
  • Holiday cancellations: Must be made one week in advance.
  1. Monitoring and Conduct
  • Parents must avoid contact during drop-off/pick-up to prevent emotional escalation.
  • Children must not be used to relay messages or discuss child support or personal matters.
  • The monitor remains neutral and facilitates only visit-related communication.
  • Unwrapped gifts may be given on gift-giving holidays.
  • Food is acceptable as long as it fits within any written food guidelines.
  1. Language Requirements
  • Parents and children must speak English during visits unless a fluent monitor is present.
  1. General Conduct
  • The monitor must see and hear parents and children at all times—no whispering or passing notes.
  • Court orders may not be served during visitations, which are reserved solely for parent-child interaction.
  • Children may not pass messages between parents.
  1. Service Termination
  • Recurring cancellations or no-shows may result in service termination by the monitor.
